The meeting was held in Wroclaw, in the Senate Hall of Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

Prof. Marek Gzik, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, attended the meeting and presented an update on the Ministry’s current activities and plans. The Committee also attended a lecture by Dr hab. Dariusz Jagielski, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, entitled Modern Electrophysiology from a Clinical Perspective.

The Committee members visited laboratories and learned about biomedical engineering research conducted at the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology. They also became acquainted with the methods used in student education at the Medical Simulation Centre of the Faculty of Medicine at Wroclaw University of Science and Technology.

The Committee adopted a resolution appointing the following new members:

  • Dr hab. Katarzyna Arkusz, Professor at the University of Zielona Gora
  • Prof. Roman Major of the Aleksander Krupkowski Institute of Metallurgy and Materials Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • Dr hab. Andrzej Swinarew, Professor at the University of Silesia.

The Committee also appointed the chairs of its commissions:

  • Education Commission – Prof. Zbigniew Paszenda, Silesian University of Technology
  • Basic Research Commission – Prof. Dorota Pijanowska, Nalecz Institute of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences
  • Applied Research and Implementation Commission – Prof. Jolanta Pauk, Bialystok University of Technology.
