Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences was established in 1972. Objectives of the activity of the committee are related to integration of the scientists working in the field of biocybernetics and biomedical engineering in Poland and coordination of initiatives leading to advanced research in this field.
Members of the committee are experts in the field of biocebernetics and biomedical engineering. They represent research organisations as well as companies involved in manufacturing of biomedical equipment. They are elected for years terms. Chairmen of the Committee were: prof. Maciej Nałęcz (1972-2007), prof. Andrzej Weryński (2007-2011), prof. Roman Maniewski (2011-2020) and presently prof. Adam Liebert.

From September 25th to 27th, 2019 the Polish Conference on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering (PCBBE) was held.
The conference is organized every two years by the Committee on Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering of the Polish Academy of Sciences. This year the conference was hosted by the University of Zielona Góra, Poland.

On the initiative of the Committee of Biocybernetics and Biomedical Engineering an expertise "Evaluation of the state of innovation and condition for the further development of biomedical engineering industry in Poland" has been prepared. The expertise is published on Acta Bio-Optica et Informatica Medica Inżynieria Biomedyczna, vol. 19, nr 4, 2013 (in Polish).
